C5000 Overview
The TMS320C5000™ DSP platform provides a broad portfolio of the most power-efficient DSPs with standby power as low as 120uW and performance up to 600 MIPs. They are optimized for power- and cost-efficient embedded signal processing solutions, including portable electronics in consumer, communications, medical, security and industrial applications.
With standby power as low as 120uW and active power as low as 0.15mW/MHz, these are the lowest power DSPs from Texas Instruments. Even for high activity use case such as 75% dual-MAC and 25% Add operations, the active power is less than 0.15mW/MHz. With performance up to 600MIPS, C5000 has the capability to bring sophisticated digital signal processing capability to portable devices.
There are many devices in this family optimized for performance, power consumption and connectivity options. This selection table will allow designers to choose the best C5000 processor for their application.

New Products and Tools
C5515/C5514 : Announced on 18/01/10, these new low power TMS320C55x DSPs provide a 20 percent performance increase, up to 120MHz, with higher integration to ease system level development. These devices are the industry's lowest power 16-bit DSPs for portable devices with extensive peripheral set and a small footprint. They bring many advanced features to C5000 family such as: FFT hardware accelerator (HWA), integrated LCD controller, high-speed USB2.0 interface. FFT HWA is at least 4 to 6 times more energy efficient compared to the already optimized CPU. What the C5515 C5514 bring on top of the C5505 C5504 is an integrated power management features, such as on-chip LDOs (low-dropout regulators), and dynamic voltage and frequency scaling, so customers can maximize and efficiently manage battery life for portable devices.
eZDSP C5515 USB Stick Development Tool: The TMDX5515EZDSP is a small form factor, very low cost USB-powered DSP development tool which includes all the hardware and software needed to evaluate the industry's lowest power 16-bit DSP: TMS320C5514 and TMS320C5515 as well as TMS320C5504 and TMS320C5505 as a sub-set. Announced on 18/01/10.
C5505/C5504 : Announced on 06/10/2009, these devices are the industry's lowest power 16-bit DSPs for portable devices with extensive peripheral set and a small footprint. These devices bring many advanced features to C5000 family such as: FFT hardware accelerator (HWA), integrated LCD controller, high-speed USB2.0 interface. FFT HWA is at least 4 to 6 times more energy efficient compared to the already optimized CPU in C5505.
eZDSP C5505 USB Stick Development Tool: The TMDX5505eZDSP is a small form factor, very low cost USB-powered DSP development tool which includes all the hardware and software needed to evaluate the industry's lowest power 16-bit DSP: TMS320VC5504 and TMS320VC5505. Announced on 09/16/09.
C5505 Medical Development Kit: Complete signal-chain development platform including analog and processor solution for top 3 medical applications: ECG, Pulse Oximeter and Digital Stethoscope. Announced on 06/30/09. This platform is available now.
