DM643x
From Texas Instruments Embedded Processors Wiki
The TMS320DM6437 (or shorter DM6437) is an automotive qualified DSP that contains a single C64x+ core along with a video input (VPFE) and video output macro (VPBE) (VPSS)that most closely resembles what its predecessor, the TMS320DM6446 was offering. The model comes currently in three different clock rates: 400, 500 and 600 MHz.
Its very next relatives are the other DM643x processors, namely the DM6431, DM6433 and DM6435, that are limited by either having a lower clock rate, no video input or no video output. All members of this whole family are code and pin compatible and thus exchangeable to each others.
A wide variety of peripheral macros are integrated to the SoC. Not all are usable at the very same time. Typically devices that are similar in functionality are paired on the same pin multiplexer. For the SoC there is a special Windows GUI utility available via the TI support that provides a means of semi-automatically defining the needed register settings and further gives automated quick hints on what is available or no longer available when a certain interface got selected or de-selected.
For evaluating the device and family there is the option of using DM6437 EVM from Spectrum Digital as a quick start helper. A limited CCS version is packed aside. There might be value-added bundles available. The processor can run the TI Codec Engine and several pre-built codecs and codec bundles for evaluation and/or for production are available.
