Power over fiber optic

It is possible to put a MSP430 at the end of a fiber-optic cable, and power the MCU entirely from optical power that comes through the cable. With a bit of cleverness, it's possible to also transmit 2-way data through the same cable.

Such an arrangement is convenient when (a) you don't want to run "live" copper power lines to the MCU (such as when the MCU is part of a fuel gage inside an aircraft fuel tank), and (b) The MCU is difficult to access, so periodically replacing batteries is annoying (such as when the MCU is part of a fuel gage inside an aircraft fuel tank).

Is there a TI app note somewhere that describes powering a MSP430 with power through fiber optic? If so, add a direct link here.
