We have an application where we would like WiFi and Ethernet interfaces, along with SSL on both. Since the CC3100 Wireless Network Processor contains specialized hardware for supporting SSL operations, it would be nice to be able to harness this hardware to perform the encryption for the Ethernet link as well (in cases when the WiFi option is not in use). So, is it possible to utilize the crytpo engine and SSL stacks for data other than what will be sent over the wireless radio? In other words, can data be written to this processor, encrypted, and then read back to be sent over another link?
I suppose this is kind of a two-part question. First, could the hardware/processor itself support this kind of functionality? Second, does the SimpleLink API support this (in looking at it, I think it probably does not)?
