After spending some time unscuccessfully connecting the EZ430-F2013, I did manage to correct the problem by removing the target board from the FET, then connecting the FET to the PC (without the target board). Once the connection was established with the PC I was then able to reconnect the target board. It would appear that this depends on what software resides on the target board.

In my case I had downloaded the temperature moitoring software, which for some reason was affecting the ability of the FET to communicate consistantly with the PC.

The problem does not occur while the target board is loaded with the blinking led application. I have not tried with other applications.

Where can I find information on the "Removable USB stick enclosure"? It is shown open; does it come with a cover? Is there a hole or holes for routing wires in/out of it?
