An implementation of a low-cost, ultra-low-power motion detector using a pyroelectric passive infrared, or PIR, and the 16-bit Sigma-Delta ADC and programmable gain amplifiers integrated into the MSP430F2013 microcontroller. Only a few additional discrete components, a CR2032 3V battery, and an LED for visual feedback are used. Average current consumption is <9.4uA.
