The eZ430 family of development tools are low cost microcontroller development systems for the MSP430. The MSP430's on-chip Embedded Emulation allows the eZ430 emulator to be the same size as a USB memory stick and communicate with the target board through only two pins. There is no reduction in performance as the emulator still supports both precision analog and full-speed digital debugging in-system.

Most eZ430 variants include a similar, but slightly modified emulator. Most newer emulators (excluding the original eZ430-F2013) include a back channel UART for data transfer to the PC. Newer emulators, such as the one included with the eZ430-Chronos also supports Spy Bi-Wire on the MSP430F5xx and CC430 devices.
